OPEN POSITIONS

cad TECHNICIAN

Position Description:

  • Plan, organize and manage work flow of AutoCAD project deliverables as related to land surveying and engineering projects.
  • Manage and coordinate workflow queue, resource identification and schedule for the operations team.
  • Work closely with staff Licensed Surveyor (LS) and Professional Engineer (PE) resolving project technical issues, process and other CAD requirements.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the CAD team to ensure operational and to ensure technical accuracy and excellence.
  • Develop, implement and monitor CAD design standards, templates and procedures to meet customer needs.
  • Create CAD drawings for customer delivery from existing plats and deed descriptions using field data.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with the internal team for clarification, coordination and definition of critical issues related to land survey and site plan drawings. 
  • Identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies.
  • Resolve issues related to and recommend best practices for solutions to meet customer business needs.
  • Maintain documentation records and database storage of developed design deliverables.
  • Assist in specifying CAD hardware and software systems for the design team – assist in application evaluation and rollout within the organization.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all groups within the organization to coordinate schedule and optimize drawing delivery.
  • Ensure project documentation and contracts are in compliance with the standards set forth by Industry code.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience working with AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or engineering related projects.
  • Field experience with ability to read drawings, deeds and plans and able to communicate well with project teams including survey crews and contractors.
  • BS or Associates Degree in Technical field a plus or equivalent CAD training
  • Land Survey-related experience desirable including, but not limited to: Boundary, ALTA and Topographic Surveys, SWM Facilities, Underground Utilities, Wetlands, etc.

Land Survey Technician

Position Description:

Surveying Technicians adjust and operate surveying instruments, such as a total station and electronic distance-measuring equipment, and compile notes, make sketches and prepare data for entry into workstations. They also search for section corners, property irons, and survey points. This position entails review of real estate documents, including plans and records as well as construction plans in order to perform boundary, topographic, right-of way, acquisition and construction stakeout surveys for residential, utility, transportation and commercial building projects. If you are detail-oriented, like the outdoors and have a background in computer, math or mechanical drawing, this may be the position for you.

Job Responsibilities:

  •  Search, locate and recover existing survey markers, including monuments, stones and irons, and setting stakes and other markers to establish property corners and lines 
  • Compile and verify preexisting data from photographs, previous surveys, maps, deeds, legal descriptions and other sources 
  • Layout grids and position rods, operate measuring instruments, including total stations, GPS bases and rovers, prisms and electronic tools 
  • Record data using loggers, image-capturing software, drawings and detailed notes, and double-check for accuracy 
  • Inventory and maintain equipment for use by survey party, including vehicles, electronics and brush-cutting tools
  • Use a plotter to accurately plot data and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software to create technical drawings for topographical and boundary surveys 
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the survey party, taking direction from the lead surveyor and instructing and assisting subordinates but working independently when needed - ability to lead a crew when needed is a plus. 
  • Clear brush and transport tools and materials over uneven terrain, and retrieve stakes, rebar and other miscellaneous materials from the site at the end of each project

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) 
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds on a daily basis 
  • Strong computation, geometry and trigonometry skills

Preferred: 

  • Proficiency in CAD, Trimble GPS and Civil 3D a plus 
  • Two or more years of experience as a surveying technician

Office Administrative Assistant

Position Description:

Office Operations & Client Coordination Assistant

  • Help with filing of project work and basic office duties as assigned. 
  • Interact with customers via phone and email to support quoting and scheduling of work.
  • Assist with coordination with field crews to ensure customer deliveries are made on time.
  • Receive finished work from CAD team and deliver (email or upload) to clients. 
  • Data entry of projects into survey CRM system.
  • Project setup - look up plats for field team to set up jobs for survey teams to have survey packages ready to execute. 
  • Scanning and return of site data and completed surveys and retention of personnel data. 
  • Timesheet collection and approval for payment of subcontractors.
  • Management of office supplies and field crew needs as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Hands on experience with office machines (e.g. copiers, fax machines, printers) 
  • 1-3 years of experience as an office clerk, administrative assistant, secretary or similar role 
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work 
  • Organization and the ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks
  • Flexibility to help them adjust to new tasks if company or office needs change 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with customers and employees 
  • Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and Email software
  • Basic bookkeeping skills – Ability to enter project information process/record payments 
  • Reliability and discretion with personnel matters and information.
  • Minimum: High School Diploma 
  • Preferred: Associates Degree or Higher – or Student Intern 
  • Experience working with Real Estate, Title work and Land use documents is a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy 
  • Highly organized and flexible 
  • Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines 
  • Must be self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision
  • Maintains staff confidentiality 
  • Working knowledge of email, scheduling, spreadsheets and presentation software


This position offers flexible hours -  between 20 to 40 hours per week.
